The 2024 GEOINT Symposium, hosted by USGIF in Kissimmee, Florida, marked Markon’s inaugural participation as an exhibitor and sponsor, with representation by me, Dan Deakin, and Hersch Weinstock. We entered the symposium with clear objectives: to increase awareness of Markon's capabilities in the GEOINT space, explore emerging technologies, and identify potential talent and partners for future growth.
At the symposium, a diverse array of companies showcased their specialties within the GEOINT realm. From disaster management to geospatial modeling, participants demonstrated cutting-edge technologies that left attendees in awe. Highlights included the Air Force Research Lab’s robotic dog for reconnaissance and Kelyn Technologies' immersive 3D maps. The event underscored the forward-looking nature of the GEOINT environment and the transformative potential of emerging technologies.
Meaningful conversations and networking opportunities were abundant at the symposium. We engaged with attendees at Markon's booth, attracting interest with our straightforward and simplistic approach. Conversations ranged from tech giants to aspiring players like Kolena, showcasing the diverse landscape of the GEOINT community. These interactions emphasized the importance of personal connections in fostering collaboration and innovation.
The symposium provided valuable educational opportunities, with companies like Sedaro offering insights into digital twin technology. Attendees walked away with a deeper understanding of complex concepts and their practical applications. As always, swag served as a means to attract visitors to booths, with companies like TCARTA and Fognigma offering unique giveaways. These engagements fostered learning and engagement among attendees while promoting companies' offerings.
Standout moments from the symposium included the Young Professionals Event and meeting Vice Admiral Sharp, whose insights emphasized the importance of teamwork in the GEOINT community. Dan and Hersch’s discoveries highlighted the potential for collaboration among organizations, reinforcing the symposium’s role as a catalyst for innovation and partnership. Overall, the symposium left a lasting impact on Markon, showcasing the value of industry events in driving growth and collaboration within the GEOINT sector.
