This year’s SBC, held in New Orleans, reaffirmed its status as SAME’s premier event. With over 6,100 attendees, the conference provided a dynamic platform for professionals from across the industry to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and discuss the latest challenges and solutions in infrastructure and defense.
Markon was represented by a dedicated team: Scott Thoden, Eric Hammerschmidt, Bryan Doss, Ryan Wing, Charlotte Daum, Colin Smith, and myself, under the skilled coordination of Julie Stubbs. Together, we maximized the event’s opportunities to connect with leaders in military engineering, small business innovators, and Department of Defense representatives. Our team made meaningful connections that not only strengthen existing relationships but also hold exciting potential for future collaborations.
We discussed critical infrastructure solutions and shared Markon’s enduring commitment to supporting defense and military initiatives. Highlighting our expertise in critical infrastructure aligns with our mission to advance government missions while showcasing our dedication to serving the nation. Moreover, Markon’s participation at SBC reinforced our commitment to hiring and retaining veterans, showcasing our holistic approach to workforce development.

As a recent recipient of the 2024 HIRE Vets Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor, we take pride in fostering a workplace where veterans can thrive and contribute to advancing the missions of our federal clients. Our dedication to veterans not only honors their service but also enriches our workforce with unparalleled expertise and perspective.
Events like SBC exemplify what makes SAME a cornerstone of this industry: the ability to bring together leaders, innovators, and decision-makers under one roof. These gatherings foster the exchange of knowledge, spark innovation, and create pathways to addressing our nation’s most pressing infrastructure and defense needs.
A special thank you to Julie Stubbs for organizing our participation and to the entire Markon team for their enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the event. We look forward to cultivating the connections we made and continuing our mission of excellence in support of the Federal Government and Department of Defense.
Here’s to another decade of collaboration and success with SAME!
