2024 Women in Construction Conference Recap

We were proud to sponsor the recent Women in Construction Conference, an inspiring event celebrating the invaluable contributions of women in a traditionally male-dominated industry. We at Markon recognize the vital role women play in driving innovation, leadership, and progress, and we are dedicated to creating opportunities that empower women to thrive in all areas of project and program management.

Markon attendee Sandy Gardner said, "I never fail to leave the Women in Construction conference without having learned something new or just a new way of looking at things. This conference was no different...The Break-out Session 'In Search of Success Without Sacrifice: A Guide to Balancing Leadership, Family and Well Being' was a reminder to prioritize what is most pressing and important to you for each "season" of your life—and naming that season as it changes over time. I am in the "Sandwich Generation,” still raising children while caring for an aging parent. One attendee named their season "Club Sandwich.” Mine feels more like a "Hoagie" because there's a whole lot of stuff in there! Everything else takes a backseat for that season—not forever. Looking at it that way reduced a lot of pressure to do it all, all the time. I'm looking forward to next year's conference!"

The Women in Construction (WIC) Conference is the East Coast's premier forum for education, professional development, and networking for women in the building industry. The organization empowers women to continue to grow and achieve success in the community with a "By Women, for Women" motto.
