    Markon Launches Inaugural Advisory Board to Strengthen National Security Mission Focus and Accelerate Growth

    New Advisory Board brings decades of strategic, operational, and cybersecurity expertise to help Markon advance federal missions and scale impact.

    Falls Church, VA – Markon, a national mission integrator serving the intelligence community and defense agencies, today announced the formation of its Advisory Board, comprised of five distinguished national security leaders. The board commenced a quarterly meeting cadence in fall 2025 and will serve as a strategic resource for guiding the firm’s continued growth and impact across government missions.

    Markon Advisory Board Members

    Betsy Davis: Strategic and operational executive leadership of a workforce dispersed across the globe. Davis led the key enabling business capabilities and expertise that supported the global operational mission, including business information technology, Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, Identity Management, Health and Medical Services, Security, Global Supply Chain, and Travel Services, and implemented innovative resource management and acquisition strategies.

    Mary O'Brien, Lt Gen (Ret.): Accomplished strategic consultant, board advisor, former 3-star general and CIO, with deep expertise in strategic planning, enterprise risk oversight, transformational technology, and governance. As Director of Intelligence and Cyber Effects for a key U.S. military branch, she oversaw a multi-billion-dollar air and space intelligence and IT portfolio and a 73,000-person workforce. O’Brien frequently shares lessons from experience leading high-performing teams in large, complex organizations through published articles, podcasts, and motivational keynote speeches.

    Paul E. Funk II, General (Ret.): General Paul Funk has provided guidance and oversight of a multi-billion-dollar budget and led the world's largest international coalition (72 Nations) against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Responsible for training 800,000 soldiers annually, General Funk routinely works with leaders to drive results in MUST-WIN situations. Funk takes pride in his ability to rapidly scale and lead large organizations through times of uncertainty, and serves in a variety of roles, including Executive Leadership, Keynote Speaker, Advisor, and Board Member.

    Fred Kurtz: Seasoned Federal cybersecurity leader with 30+ years of service across national security agencies. Former Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with a proven track record of securing critical systems, leading enterprise IT initiatives, and developing resilient cybersecurity frameworks. An expert in navigating complex cyber threats, driving interagency and international collaboration, and managing large-scale cloud projects and budgets, Kurtz is renowned for strategic leadership, innovation, and a people-first approach to building effective, future-ready security solutions.

    Sylvia Moran: Veteran national security leader with 33 years of experience in cyber policy, threat analysis, and intelligence integration. As Director of a cyber and digital policy office, she represented national interests in executive-level forums and helped shape cross-agency strategies. Previously, she led a global cyber threat analysis program supporting national response planning and long-term strategic risk assessments. Known for bridging operational and policy priorities, Sylvia has held leadership roles across multiple mission areas and is widely respected for her clarity, collaboration, and impact.
