What does it mean to be “deeply dedicated” at Markon?

At Markon, being deeply dedicated means bringing curiosity, care, and accountability to everything you do. Whether you're supporting a mission, collaborating with a team, or leading an initiative, you're not just here to complete a task; you’re here to make an impact.

It’s also about being a great teammate: following through on commitments, helping others succeed, and representing Markon with pride in every interaction.

What makes Markon’s culture different from other government services firms?

Markon stands out for its close-knit, performance-based culture – one that evolves intentionally based on feedback from our team.

When the 2024 results from our annual engagement survey revealed that internal meetings were a common pain point, we didn’t just take note; we took action. Less than a quarter after identifying that feedback trend, we completely revamped the way we did things going into 2025 –  we streamlined our cadence, reduced redundancies, and built more space for productivity.

Similarly, we administer a separate annual survey to examine employee benefits. When we hear that a benefit could be improved, we review the data, listen to our team, and refine our offerings year after year. One recent example of this was the implementation of Flexible Paid Time Off (FPTO), which has been hugely successful in enabling our workforce to balance personal and professional commitments with greater autonomy and flexibility.

At Markon, you're not just a number. People know your name, care about your growth, and listen to your feedback and input. Our size allows us to stay nimble, while our values keep us grounded. We’re deeply dedicated to what matters – to the mission, to our people, and to continuously improving how we work together.

What does having a “performance-based culture” actually mean?

It means your effort and impact are seen, recognized, and rewarded.

We don’t rely solely on tenure or titles. Promotions and recognitions are earned through initiative, collaboration, and results. We utilize a combination of input and feedback from peers, supervisors, leadership members, and clients, along with structured performance metrics, to evaluate growth potential.

We also take pride in celebrating wins across the company. From spot recognitions and team shoutouts to promotions and peer-nominated awards, we recognize excellence in both big and small ways. We also make it easy for teammates to elevate each other’s contributions across functions and contracts.

Can someone in a junior role grow quickly?

Absolutely. Growth at Markon is not constrained by where you start. What matters most is your willingness to contribute, learn, and raise your hand.

Here are some of the ways teammates in junior roles grow:

    • Getting nominated during our biannual promotion cycles
    • Leading or supporting corporate initiatives in a variety of areas, such as hiring, onboarding, employee experience, and more
    • Participating in our LMS (Learning Management System) to earn certifications or sharpen skills
    • Using our education reimbursement for degree programs or professional development
    • Getting involved in proposal efforts or business development
    • Writing thought leadership blogs, white papers, or conference abstracts

Some of our most senior leaders started in junior roles and earned increasing responsibility by consistently stepping up.

What if I want to explore a different career path?

We believe career paths should be flexible, not fixed.

Our internal mobility program helps you explore new opportunities within Markon, whether that means moving to a new contract, supporting a different client agency, or shifting to a new capability area.

We average between 80 and 100 internal job postings at any given time. You’re encouraged to have open conversations with your manager about your career goals, and we’ll work together to chart a path forward.

    Final Thoughts

At Markon, we know that making a career move is about more than just a job description. It’s about culture, clarity, and the ability to grow. That’s why we’re committed to transparency and glad you’re doing your research.

If you’re looking for a workplace where your work matters, where your growth is taken seriously, and where your contributions will be seen, we would love to connect with you.
