Red Team Journeyman Course

Our courses are built, updated, and taught by operators who currently do this work for real, not by trainers reading from a script. The tradecraft you learn reflects how adversaries operate today, and it evolves as the threat evolves. You spend the majority of your time hands-on in realistic environments, so you finish mission-ready, with skills you can put to work immediately.

Most k>fivefour exams are approximately 9 hours of hands-on practical work. Longer courses have longer exams: the Red Team Journeyman exam runs approximately 19 hours. Exact timing is confirmed during each course.

Each instructor-led course includes live instruction, all course materials, access to a fully provisioned virtual lab environment for hands-on exercises, a welcome bag including some awesome swag, and a certificate box with personalized gear once you pass.

They mark increasing depth and operational maturity. Apprentice courses build the core methodology and skills for a discipline, journeyman courses develop independent operator-level tradecraft, and specialization courses go deep on a specific domain such as Linux and Unix exploitation or cyber ops forensics.

Test days are approximately 9 hours long. However, it's up to the student and their individual performance.

Huntsville International Airport (HSV) is the closest airport to our training facility at Bridge Street. It's a short drive from the training center and the nearby hotels.

Discounts may be available for group and team enrollments, government and military personnel, and returning students. Confirm which apply to you by contacting us with your situation, and we'll let you know what's available.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, contact us as soon as possible. Cancellations made 30 or more days before the course start date are eligible for a full refund or a no-cost transfer to a future session. Between 15 and 29 days out, you can transfer to a future session at no cost, or receive a refund less a 15% administrative fee. Within 14 days of the start date, fees are non-refundable, though a one-time transfer may be available at our discretion. You may also send a substitute attendee from your organization at no charge up to the course start date. If k>fivefour cancels or reschedules a course, you'll receive a full refund or a transfer of your choice.

With the exception of COIC, every course concludes with a hands-on practical exam. Students who pass earn a k>fivefour certificate for that course. COIC students receive a certificate after passing an exam with more than 100 questions.

Individuals can pay by credit card directly through our website. For government and enterprise customers, we accept purchase orders, government purchase cards (GPC), and training request forms such as the SF-182. Contact us to arrange invoicing or to work through your organization's procurement process.

You can retake the exam. Retake options and pricing are listed on each course page, or you can contact us to schedule one.

You'll need a laptop capable of connecting to a remote lab environment and a reliable internet connection. Your hands-on labs run in a fully provisioned virtual environment we supply. For the proctored exam, you'll also need a webcam.

If you're new to the field, start with our Intro to Cyber Ops or an apprentice-level course, depending on your background: the Red Team Apprentice Course for offensive skills or the Blue Team Apprentice Course for defensive skills. Journeyman and specialization courses build on that foundation. If you are not sure, reach out and we'll help guide you.

The Red Team track teaches offensive operations, including how to emulate real-world adversaries to identify and exploit weaknesses. The Blue Team track teaches defensive operations, including how to detect, hunt, and respond to those same threats. Many students train across both tracks to build a purple, cross-domain skill set.

Yes. Students will need a webcam and a modern web browser. Additionally, students will need to allow our proctors to record their screens and webcams throughout the exam. Additional information about the proctoring process is provided during each course.

Yes! You'll be provided with a letter of completion for every course you take with k>fivefour that will include course name, date, and credit hours.

Our courses are offered both in person and virtually. For in-person courses, our instructors teach from our training facility in Huntsville, AL.
